Welcome to Sunrise Elementary Music!
Our music curriculum at Sunrise Elementary is based on the ND music Content Standards, and the Bismarck Public Schools standards and curriculum. I hope your child will come home with many wonderful songs and activities to share with you this year. While we have content curriculum to learn in kindergarten, our priority with children at this age is to give them the background knowledge and experiences that will help them to learn about themselves, their relationships with others, and about music.

What do we do in Music Class?
Most people think that singing is all children do in music class.
In Kindergarten we:
* Sing alone and with others a variety of songs from our country and other cultures around the world
* Read rhythmic and musical notation
* Play pitched and rhythm instruments.
* Move and dance to music
* Listen to many styles of music. (Classical, jazz, pop, rock)
* Play music games
* Create dances, songs and instrumental arrangements
* HAVE FUN!
